We sorted through hundreds of CBD products to narrow down the top ones to test. These are the best products to try now.

CBD is everywhere—and the hemp wellness trend shows no signs of going away any time soon. With a host of benefits, CBD has been shown to relax body and mind, relieve pain, fight inflammation, aid with sleep, reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, and more.

Finding the right CBD product can be a challenge. Because of a relatively new market, some manufacturers may cut corners and compromise the quality of their products. Some CBD products contain low quality, less effective forms of hemp oil. Others may have small amounts of THC. Plus, some brands are not clear about their manufacturing and testing processes.

It is essential to select products with broad-spectrum, phytocannabinoid-rich (PCR) hemp oil and no THC, a psychoactive component. It is also critical that products are tested for purity and shown to be free of solvents, pesticides and herbicides.

Our team of testers tried hundreds of products from popular CBD brands to find the best CBD oils, gummies, topicals and other products on the market. Testers paid close attention to claims and manufacturing practices and also considered quality, price, value and transparency with data and testing results. These top six CBD brands stood out.

When researching the Cureganics brand, the first thing our testers noticed was what it didn’t have: THC. In fact, we learned that Cureganics comes from the only producer in the world to make products with 0.0 percent THC—an impressive claim. (Most other products tested contained at least 0.3 percent THC.)

The company uses a leading liquid chromatography method to ensure that THC is not present in its products. This process also removes unwanted impurities and other contaminants that affect product purity, such as pesticides, herbicides and solvents.

With a variety of PCR hemp oil products, Cureganics offers something for everyone (including man’s best friend). The company’s nano-tincture stood out and was the only product tested that is a water-soluble, nano-sized microemulsion. Because this product is formulated with cutting-edge nano-enhanced absorption technology, it leads to a larger surface area of hemp oil droplets and therefore, better absorption.

The Cureganics website also provides a comprehensive list of FAQs. This is a helpful resource, especially when using a product that can often be confusing and overwhelming. We appreciate the company’s transparency about its ingredients, practices and testing results.

Green Roads

Green Roads is a well-known CBD company founded by a pharmacist. We like Green Roads’ focus on wellness, with a wide variety of products designed to work for almost everyone, including daily dose packs, animal products and even coffees and teas.

The company is upfront about its high standards and breakthrough extraction methods. We like that users can readily find product lab sheets online or by scanning a QR code on the packaging. Green Roads also breaks down usage information for each product so that it is easy to understand.

However, GreenRoads’ proprietary formulations are perhaps too proprietary. The company does not provide specifics about its extraction processes and certifications online, making it hard for users to understand exactly how its products are made. We also weren’t able to easily find information on phytocannabinoid-rich (PCR) hemp oil, a key feature we look for in CBD products.

Green Roads is also one of the most expensive brands tested, with oils as pricy as $420.

CB Distillery

CB Distillery offers a nice array of well-priced products, including oils, capsules, vegan gummies, vapes and even isolates—all without THC. We like that the company shares helpful information on how to use their products, along with FAQs to address common concerns and a glossary with useful information on C.B.D. They even offer a free downloadable resource guide for C.B.D users.

We were also keen on the brand’s value. CB Distillery products are reasonably priced, with oil tinctures as low $19. In fact, the company was also named a 2019 #1 Value Brand by Mashable.

However, CB Distillery products do not appear to be made with phytocannabinoid-rich (PCR) hemp oil and they do not offer nano-emulsion technology, two features found in our top pick, Cureganics.

Pure Kana

Those testers that don’t love the classic earthy flavor of CBD products enjoyed PureKana’s vanilla and mint varieties. They also appreciated the brand’s assortment of products, including bath bombs, vapes and more.

Pure Kana claims that its products are lab tested for purity and safety, but as of press time, these results were not available online. While the company claims that its products do not contain pesticides, solvents, herbicides or fertilizers, we hoped to see proof in order to verify the purity of the brand’s products.

Frequent pop-ups on the Pure Kana website make for a less-than-stellar user experience
